Mentor System

A system designed to pair veterans with newbies. In practice, everyone just mentored their own alts and collected coins. Zero actual helping happened.

The Exploitation Loop

  1. Create alt account
  2. Mentor your own alt
  3. Level the alt to 86
  4. Collect 12,000+ Mentor Coins
  5. Repeat

Nobody mentored actual new players. The system rewarded alt-farming, so that’s what everyone did.

The Payout

Mentee LevelCoins
102
40109
60395
80576
85863
Total~12,000+

12,000 coins per alt. With 3 mentee slots, players ran mentoring factories. The coins bought useful items, so the incentive was to maximize alts, not help people.

Zero Social Mechanics

The system had nothing to encourage actual mentoring:

  • No shared quests
  • No teaching tools
  • No verification mentors helped
  • Just passive coin accumulation

A “social” feature with zero social requirement. Register someone, wait for them to level, collect rewards.

Already Disabled

The exploitation was so obvious that the system was disabled in Essence before we removed it. It existed, didn’t work as intended, and got turned off.

On L2Cruma, community is real. Want to help someone? Just help them. No coins required.
